And yes it is "kind of" like a Friday for me this time. I'm working a temp desk job (that whole being a server during the day thing was *not* working out for me). So here I am back in an office. Just for a week though, then I'm doing the Desperados thing five nights with a couple of days thrown in also. Business is picking up and tips are good! I'm working in this small tourist town called Keystone, population like 310! but big tourist place though. I'm temping at the local telephone company and I'm the only person in the office! Blogs away!! So our tech is in the switch room and he comes out, walks right up to my desk and holds his finger out, he has a little red bug on it crawling around. I asked what that was and he said a tick!! eww! he felt it crawling on him, ok now why would he show me?? Now I feel all itchy everywhere!!! I swear if I get lime disease....
Have a great weekend!

Happy Tuesday
Wow it's been a week since I've blogged! Not a whole lot happening in the wonderful world here. Looking forward to a great weekend (tip wise) at the restaurant. I am so far behind on what's going on in the world and of course the world of blogs! Must do some catching up! Have a great day!

Service in the choir
I am going to present a short testimony at church on Sunday about what it means to serve in choir. What does it mean to me? Why do I go to rehearsals? Why am I proud to serve?
The answers are simple and easy. I am a musician. I am a singer. I am built to need to sing. But the reasons I sing in choir are more community based. I thrive on interactions with those other musicians. When I skip rehearsals, I miss the people and I miss making music with them. I am honored to give of my time to create beauty in our worship services. I pray that my service blesses those around me whether in the choir or in the congregation. I pray that God enjoys listening to me raise my voice in song.
I think we should sing because God asks us to. Music is a mystical force that touches the world on an elemental "God" level. Passion, energy, discipline, dedication, reverence, honor... they all play their part.
I wonder if I always sing because God wants me to, or if my performances are self serving. Tough to say for sure in every instance, but my God is a merciful God who understands that I sometimes lose my way. My choir helps to keep me grounded in my gifts and in my service. I remember why I sing. I strive to sing a new song.
Ephesians 5:18-20
Don't drink too much wine. That cheapens your life. Drink the Spirit of God, huge draughts of him. Sing hymns instead of drinking songs! Sing songs from your heart to Christ. Sing praises over everything, any excuse for a song to God the Father in the name of our Master, Jesus Christ.
The Message
Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Today's Weather
Warm and balmy...a very laid back kind of day. ;-)
Life is good, quit one job, went to another, still at Desperados at night and the tips are good. Life is becoming way to routine, but not much else to do. Went out this weekend and the scene was tired, the people were tired, Rapid City is tired. Saw a car with California license plates and screamed at the top of my lungs "I love you California!! Baby's coming home!!"
Allrighty then...think it's time. ;-)

Happy Friday!
...or Humpday for me! Oh shit, it's Thursday *sigh*. Ne'er mind! Hope all is well. I'm still just doing the grind (and NOT the good kind) at both restaurants. I love the night job because I meet so many interesting people from all over the world. Last night I met a couple from England who were looking for a summer home in the Black Hills, they were the politest people ever! After I took their order I made small talk with them and discovered their desire to live here, although, they aren't happy with Bush...but they don't plan on becoming citizens, so they're safe. After that I had a table with an Italian from Italy! O M G! Do you know how difficult it is to pour a glass of wine to a tall hunky Italian man who just keeps smiling at you because his English is "no so good"??? *sigh* I manage to suggest the Halibut and he was really happy with his meal, left a good tip and went on his magical way. THAT was the highlight of my night!!
Thanks to The Boy for these pics. I don't know if this dude is Italian or Spanish or Brazilian...but then...does it really matter???!! I think blogger is having problems again so you may need to "refresh".

Happy Monday
Finally, my day off from both of those #!@#$$%$#^@!!&^*%#! jobs!! yeah, bad week for me. It's over now, I'm going to take the day and explore the Black Hills Caverns have some nice lunch and just decompress. All I have to say is that not only is blue collar work hard, it's also a great way to raise your blood pressure and contemplate pushing people under cars on busy freeways...I'm just saying. With that being said, not a lot happening. My aunt is going to sell me a car for cheap which I am SO greatful for! So that eases my mind on how to get my stuff back to Cali and also how I'm going to get back there. I was sooo thinking Amtrack out of Denver, but now I could drive back! woo hoo! So, everything I make I give to her keeping just enough for gas and cigs (food, courtesty of the two restaurants I work for!) All in all, I'm happy and life is wonderful, Cali still seems so far off though (end of August maybe?). My future roomie Miss Mantoan is moving in extactly 30 days and you would think she's looking forward to a trip to visit the Pope, ok actually that's not a good one because she would probably tell him the hat has to go and what's his deal with gay people???
In any case, she's excited! Ok, I'm off for some R&R and I hope everyone is well! peace

Woo hoo! It's Friday...
...ok that USED to mean something to me! It's actually my Wednesday, so happy hump day!! Life has been busy and going fast and sometimes when I'm mopping a floor or emptying garbage, I'm like...why am I doing this again? Oh yeah, to make money, to move home to Cali. I could have stayed a desk jockey but really, here in SD, it just makes more sense to wait tables during tourist season for more dough. The good news is I lost another 5 lbs and haven't been this weight since like forever!! Hmmm...maybe Jason over at Jason's Room
and I could have a contest 'cause I know he's trying to get into his skinny jeans also! I personally, have no more skinny jeans (I fit them all!) and my belt almost wraps around me twice, so I think it's time for a new one. Although, I wish I had more time to work out, so my stomach could like these delicious washboards! Have a great weekend!

Today's Weather
Is hot!!! We kind of have this wind going on from the Hills so it's like being in a microwave, not that I know what that feels like, just saying... ;-)
I had yesterday and today off and it's been great, but after working 30 days straight living on Marlboro Ultralights 100's and adrenaline, I do feel a bit antsy today with nothing to do. Laundry-check, clean apartment-check, gassed up car-check. So I get to play on the 'net for a bit. Made good money this weekend and hope it only gets better! Still wish I was at the beach though, well especially with any of these guys! I guess blogger is having problems uploading all the pics, so just hit refresh a couple of times so they all load.

Hustle
My TBall team of 5 year olds lost today because they didn't hustle on a few key plays. Overall the game was a bit frustrating because we played well. Our team made some throws, did a good job fielding, and showed heart. It just wasn't enough to get the "W". Hustling is something that adults understand. Kids don't get it at 5 years old. More importantly, they don't understand that you have to hustle EVERY time.. not just a few..

Taking a moment...
...to say hello to all! Well I'm free from the confines of working for the State of South Dakota which I can NOW say sucks big dill pickles!! Naw, actually I miss everyone I work with and the work was cool, but the pay, the pay sucked big dill pickles. I'm liking what I do now, but there's so much drama in the blue collar industry, not that there isn't in the white collar, it just seems more "in your face" type of drama at the two restaurants I work at. I actually have a minute to log on and check my email and such. I have to get home, put away laundry and "pre-clean" before my aunt comes and cleans my apartment tomorrow. Yes, I'm paying her, I have neither the time nor energy to do it. Believe me, it needs it! Hope everyone has a great weekend.
