Rhetoric of reckoning

The day of reckoning rhetoric coupled with accountability and a plan of action is inspiring.  True change will bring with it true pain. If we all come together, we will fix this, and rebuild... and make our country a better place. Governor Christie is perhaps my favorite politician these days for his consistent message and his willingness to lead into a difficult place.  The speech below is passionate and compassionate as it should be. 





I am inspired by a vision which empowers the creative and innovative spirit of Americans and their localities to solve problems rather than create a dependency on some central sustaining force.  We must rely on ourselves and remember to work together with honor, respect and accountability. 


If Governor Christie fails the people of NJ, he will face the consequences of his actions and leadership just as we are all facing the results of our indifference in recent years.  We cannot allow our government to continue to grow unchecked by a society of uninformed, disinterested, indifferent citizens.  The consequences of that future could be far worse than today's reckoning and the world has already experienced this horror time and time again. 


WE must break the cycle, and fix OUR problems now!  We must live for the future.. and act for the future by taking accountability in the present... all the while solving for the decisions of the past.


The wisdom below was taken from an illustration in a Sunday school illustration. It was intended to inform the reader about the dangers of the sin of sloth, but seems sadly appropriate for a discussion of reckoning rhetoric.

The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.
The opposite of beauty is not ugliness, it's indifference.
The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference.
And the opposite of life is not death, but indifference."
