Total Toilet Freedom

This week's theme ... you knew there was a theme on this blog, right? ... anyway, this week's theme is ...

(drum roll)

Here goes ...

It's "What Freaks Us Out."

When I read the theme, one thing came immediately to mind, followed by a number of other things, then some ESPN leakage and other stuff. But I decided to stick with my first impulse.

So what freaks me out?

In a word ... Women.

Yep, the so-called 'weaker sex.'

Yeah, right, weaker.

I have two daughters and my wife of almost a quarter century, and I'm bigger than them. I'm stronger. I out stink them. Heck, I'm a black belt. I shouldn't be afraid of them.

Okay, so explain to me why on a recent trip, when I stayed in a hotel by myself ... five hundred miles away from my wife and kids ... why ...

... I still couldn't leave the toilet seat up.

I mean, here's my taste of freedom. My chance to boldly leave the toilet bowl exposed and uncovered. Heck, there was no reason I'd even feel required to flush the thing.

Total Toilet Freedom!

But I couldn't do it.

Yeah, women, they freak me out.

Lost, no, not lost ... Missing

A new book.

Yeah, that's what it's all about.

I was going to blog about writing, or vampires or nose hair ... important things like that - but not today, for I have a new book out!

Missing.

Woo-hoo!

Well, okay, to be honest, it's not MY book, like just me. It's a collaborative work by a bunch of talented authors, including Bob Goldsborough, Luisa Buehler, trouble-maker Joe Konrath and, well okay, he's not the only troublemaker.

No, I'm not talking about me. I'm no troublemaker.

(Shaddup!)

Did I mention its title?

Missing.

And to be honest again ... that's getting to be a bad habit ... due to a glich, I haven't even read it yet. I couldn't get my hands on it until just this weekend. Well, I did read my story ... most of it anyway ... and I'll tell you, it's worth reading just for mine alone.

But I know a lot of the other authors, and we have award-winners and mad-style
word-meisters in the group. I'll tell you something about the book. Each of the stories is about missing persons, and we were allowed to use our characters from our own books, our own genres and ... best of all ...

...all of the profits go to charity.

You heard me, er, read me, the profits all go to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

So get yourself over to this link and get yourself a copy>>

Meanwhile, I gotta get back to reading my own copy.

New Kid on the Block

Heh... a new place to play with words ...

So make room !

I'm going to talk ...well, write ... about writing for young adults (definition: those whose ages approximate my maturity level). I'm going to rant on occasion, 'cuz things out there piss me off sometimes, and I like to get 'em back in writing. And sometimes I'm just going to say something random ... like this.

"I'm watching television right now ... well, I'm typing ... but the boob-tube is on, and guess what's going to be on in two minutes?

Have you guessed yet?

George W. Bush's FAREWELL address!!!

Yay!!!!

Anyway, why's that relevant to anything here? Well, it' snot, er, sorry, it's not, but my WIP (work in progress) stars one George W. Bush.

And boy do I have fun with him. You'll really want to read it, believe me.

But that won't happen for awhile, because I have two books coming out before this, "Missing," an anthology that includes a story with my characters from award-winning Adventures of Guy series ... and then in August, Fang Face, my YA humor/vampire books comes out to gnaw on young readers.

Books should be judged on their content, so I humbly ask you to visit my website and read excerpts of my books, including a sneak peak at not-even-edited Fang Face.

So get yourself over to www.normcowie.com, and check them out.

In the meantime, remember, be kind to your vampire and keep your neck clean!
